Green Dell

Home Extension and Refurbishment

Green Dell began with a clear ambition: to create a generous open-plan living space for entertaining, improve the home’s connection to the garden, and add a new shower room to support the existing hot tub terrace.

Mullery Architects was appointed to redesign and extend the property, bringing more light, comfort, and function to a home that needed a modern update.

The design centred on a large single-storey rear extension that reconfigured the ground floor into a spacious, open-plan environment ideal for hosting friends and family.

Oversized skylights and two expansive sets of bi-folding doors were introduced to maximise natural daylight, ensuring both the new living areas and the rooms positioned deeper within the home felt bright and uplifting throughout the day.

Outside, the proposal included a redesigned patio with a feature pergola, offering shade, privacy, and an elegant setting for the hot tub and outdoor dining area.

Modern natural materials were prioritised, with Western Red Cedar cladding applied across both ground and first floors of the rear elevation. This created a sharp, contemporary interpretation of the painted weatherboarding already present, allowing the extension to feel cohesive yet distinctly modern.

The completed home extension and refurbishment delivers a warm, sociable, and beautifully lit living environment tailored for modern family life.

The open-plan layout flows effortlessly onto the upgraded terrace, enhancing the home’s indoor–outdoor connection and creating multiple zones for entertaining.

With its refined material palette and carefully considered detailing, Green Dell now feels both refreshed and rooted — a contemporary evolution of the original home that balances style, practicality, and year-round enjoyment.
