This bespoke garden room in Aldington was designed as a multifunctional space overlooking sweeping countryside views.
Commissioned by Close to Home Bespoke Garden Rooms, the brief was to create a contemporary, detached home office that could transition seamlessly into an inviting social space on weekends — all while maximising the remarkable landscape at the rear of the garden.
Mullery Architects designed a generous, open-plan home office centred around uninterrupted views of the surrounding fields.
A height-adjustable, built-in desk with an infinity-edge detail anchors one end of the space, creating a focused workspace with a strong connection to the outdoors.
The proposal also included a compact kitchenette and WC, ensuring the garden room could function independently from the main house and support flexible day-to-day use.
Externally, the design incorporated new decking, raised planters, and steps to integrate the building naturally into the existing patio and garden levels.
The completed garden room delivers a calm, light-filled environment perfectly suited for both productivity and relaxation.
The panoramic outlook becomes a defining feature of the space, enhancing wellbeing during the working week and creating an atmospheric backdrop for weekend gatherings.
Thoughtful detailing, considered landscaping, and high-quality materials elevate the structure beyond a simple outbuilding — resulting in a contemporary garden room that feels purposeful, connected, and beautifully at home in its setting.
