Project Description:
This project features a single storey rear extension to improve the current kitchen/dining space and to create separate utility room.
The mono-pitch form of the extension rises up to meet a striking up-and-over glass slot window, which mediates between the existing house and new addition. As the rear of the property is orientated directly North, the oversized skylight is an essential feature that ensures the new living spaces are flooded with natural daylight.
We were also entrusted with redesigning the stepped garden terrace to improve the quality of the external space. At the very end of the garden a new-build self-contained annexe has been designed for an elderly relative. This new building is traditional in style and features a vaulted open-plan living space and a covered seating area on the south-facing elevation.
